Internet of Things (IoT) – Next Revolution?

Image
If you were to ask me what the invention of the century was, without blinking an eye I’d tell you it was the Internet. It is the most significant and influential foundation for mankind in my opinion. The Internet has completely revolutionized the world and brought people closer to each other than ever before. The introduction of powerful mobile devices combined with the influence of the Internet has not only changed the way we do business, but also the way we conduct our everyday lives. Just imagine services the population at large use and what we currently offer our customers. Think if that would be possible if not for the Internet? Difficult to imagine, isn't it!   In my opinion, the Internet of Things (IoT) is going to be a major driving force in Enterprise IT since the advent of the Internet. Transformation is happening as I write this article and devices are shifting from isolated systems to ubiquitous IoT enabled systems. What is IoT? Think of I

Enterprise Mobile Application Testing in Cloud – How critical is it?

Image
We have seen remarkable growth in the mobile technology industry in the past few years.  There have been so many advancements in terms of both hardware and software that continuously push the software developers to utilize these capabilities and build newer and more exciting business interfaces. The “app stores” by Google, Apple, Windows, and Amazon have set the strategy in mobile software development and guided the path to new areas of revenue. This growth spurt has increased market competition so much that application vendors are pressured to develop apps with a short turnaround time in order to survive in the market. Testing these apps in a mobile environment is where the real challenge lies. After all, you wouldn’t want a brilliant idea wasted just because it wasn’t tested enough right? The statistics that the “CapGemini World Quality Report 2013-14 Mobile Testing Pull Out” recently revealed is actually quite mind-boggling. While 65% organizations reported that they do

TeleHealth - You don't need to go to Doctor anymore!!!

Image
Well…don’t take my blog title in a literal sense. We definitely need doctors around more than ever. It is just the way we can access their healthcare services that is changing. TeleHealth is a new paradigm in the Healthcare industry.  The current health service model is very expensive, time consuming, and ineffective. TeleHealth will transform the way medicine is currently practiced. What is TeleHealth? It is the delivery of healthcare services and clinical information to remote locations. TeleHealth is an FDA approved, HIPPA compliance platform that interactively connects patients with a nationwide network of licensed doctors 24/7 using Internet, Internet of Things (IoT), Video chats, Smartphones and Electronic Medical Record clouds. In 21 st century, TeleHealth is an hour-in-need solution.   The lists of services provided under TeleHealth are: TeleMedicine: Providing a professional consultation to a patient in a remote location or assisting a primary care physicia

Wearable Technology - The Next Big Thing

Image
With the Dublin web summit around the corner, what better topic for my next blog other than writing about “Wearable Technology”.  Forbes asserts, the year 2014 as “The Year of Wearable Technology”. With companies like Google, Samsung, and Sony, all researching and marketing and smaller boutique manufacturers entering the wearable technology space, the battle is truly under way.  We are now familiar with the power of mobile computing devices and this is taking a new direction – integrating with bodily-worn devices. This is going to revolutionize the way we work, play, and socialize.  Do I need wearable technology or do I not is the question most of us are pondering over. While a recent survey by Rackspace and CAST has revealed that half of the British public has privacy concerns with wearable technology, 71% of individuals already owning similar gadgets feel that this adoption has enhanced their life. But before we go into the details, what IS wearable technology? Wearable

Once again Apple did it – My experience with iPhone 6Plus

Image
When I was in Manhattan, NY recently, I made a promise to myself that I’d free up a few hours on my calendar to take a walk around downtown New York and see what was so enticing to people about Times Square. Even before I realized it, I was standing in front of a glass structure with this huge Apple logo on Fifth Avenue staring down at me. The Apple enthusiast in me took over and I was already walking into the store with the intention of checking out what all the excitement about the new iPhone was about. As soon as I walked in, an Apple Genius (well that’s what they call the staff at an Apple Store) walked over to help me out. As I introduced as myself as Head of Mobile CoE of HTC Global Services, The Genius got an impression that I was the Head of HTC – the Smartphone manufacturer and introduced me to his entire team. Though I kept clarifying that I was actually the Mobile CoE Head of HTC Global Services and not HTC, I guess he was just too excited to realize that both c
